Torrey Pines State Reserve

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Here you’ll discover boardwalks, piers and some of the best people-watching spots around the entire city. Free.

La Jolla Cove/La Jolla Shores

Check Out the Mountains in Julian

Head out of the city and into the orchards of a time gone by. Check out the Julian Pie Company for spectacular apple pie, grab some cider, hike a mountain or contemplate life while enjoying this mountain town. Free.

Want to explore the sights, hold your partner’s hand and enjoy an afternoon of learning and experiencing new? San Diego has more than its share of theme parks, museums and activities to keep your hearts and minds open. San Diego Zoo and Safari Park

Spend your day with animal friends at either Balboa Park’s San Diego Zoo or Escondido’s Safari Park. You can hang with the orangutans, awe at the giraffes, check out the tigers or wile away the afternoon watching the elephants play, eat and sleep. The safari park will even let you spend the night in one of their ‘roar and snore’ tents.

USS Midway

Spend some time exploring naval history aboard a decommissioned aircraft carrier. Check out the planes and helicopters, learn about life aboard this floating city and discover a small slice of what it takes to land a flying piece of metal aboard a moving vessel.

Cabrillo National Monument (tide pools)

Spend some time at the national park in San Diego. Here you’ll learn about San Diego’s history, get a fantastic view of the city, be able to hike some trails, explore a lighthouse, wade in the tide pools and wait to see if you can catch a glimpse of the whales along their journey from here to there.

Maritime Museum

Hop aboard historic vessels of the sea. Turn the wheel of the Star of India or check out what life might have been like aboard both an American and Russian submarine. Get your sea legs under you as you spend the day jumping from one floating medium to another.
