The Daughters of the American Revolution
M-F: 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; S: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

(DAR) was founded in 1890 as a women's organization dedicated to preserving American history and promoting patriotism. Its national headquarters, located in the heart of Washington, DC, houses a museum, a library and a concert hall. The DAR museum features 32 Period Rooms that depict regional American furnishings from the 17th to the early 20th century. 1776 D Street NW Washington, DC. (202) 628-1776. Free.

March 1
A Day Like No Other: Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Library of Congress will present an exhibition, "A Day Like No Other: Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington," to mark what Martin Luther King Jr. called "the greatest demonstration for freedom in the nation's history." Library of Congress - Graphic Arts Galleries, Thomas Jefferson Building. 10 First Street SE Washington, DC. Capitol Hill. (202) 707-8938. Free.

March 16
Washington, DC Saint Patrick's Day Parade
Noon to 3:00 p.m.

Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a parade along Constitution Avenue - 7th to 17th Streets NW. This two-and-a-half hour special event, known as the Nation's St. Patrick's Day Parade, will include floats, marching bands, pipe bands, military, police, and fire departments. Local Irish pubs will sponsor parade parties featuring Irish musicians, dancers and signers. St. Patrick's Day is a family day, bringing people together to share the culture of the Irish. Free.

March 22-23
Cherry Blossom Family Days
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. ; Sunday: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The annual opening of Washington’s cherry blossom season includes hands-on, family friendly activities, interactive art demonstrations and special live performances. National Building Museum, 401 F Street, NW.

March 29
The Blossom Kite Festival
10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Blossom Kite Festival, previously named the Smithsonian Kite Festival, is an annual event that is traditionally a part of the festivities at the National Cherry Blossom Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Kite enthusiasts show off their stunt skills and compete for awards. National Mall - Constitution Avenue & 17th.
